1. Take raw video footage of you in the mudroom while you work.
2. Upload to the Jamboard your storyboard and sketchbook plans of your wheel thrown and hand-built ideas. Complete with color and specific details of size, decorations, and function. In Studio... This week we will be in Open Studio so you can maximize your work time. Note we will be having a quiz this week and have time in class to upload your Jamboards. Serious focus needs to be kept on your Open Studio time as we have 2 weeks before our first kiln fire deadline. Items need to be bone dry so focus on having as much built as possible. Throwing video link.
In Studio... First item for the week is to make sure you add textures and details to your clay animal. Reminder, you need to have a sketch in your journal. Rule of thumb!!! Thin out your piece by using a ribbon tool and smoothing out the surfaces with a sponge. Get on the wheel this week. Remember the steps to center. If you are able to make a bowl, you will need to cut your first 2 pieces in half and show me. What we are looking for is even thickness. BUT before you can do that you need to center the clay. Focus on your body position and safe use of the wheel. Assemble your throwing tools and keep them in a bucket so it is easier for you to start and clean up. Studio time will be short for throwing as clean up will take up most of the time. NOTE: Document!!!! Name on post it and your pieces! Keep your work in the bins.
In Studio... You will review how to wheel throw and steps in wheel throwing. Create an animal out of a piece of clay. You can choose any form of hand-building to quickly construct this animal. ( the entire construction of the creature will need to be done in one class and fitting all of the requirements in clay construction ... rule of thumb, hollowed, slipped and scored... ). Take pictures and make sketches of your ideas and work. Do not forget to update your jamboards... some of you did not complete the last upload about your slab work. If you have already done so you are up-todate! Note : We need to review steps in preparing your clay items for the kiln... Post-it, bins, and the different areas to store work. As we move forward there will be more creations and we dont want to misplace or break items by accident. (BINS, POST-IT, and RACKS) |
